Track 1. Intro

Recently, bands from the world dark scene rarely come to Israel due to lack of demand. I hope that after the And One concert the organizers of the local lines will make conclusions and slightly reconsider their views on this aspect of their activities.

Track 2. The Club

Late in the evening, after some thinking through, we went to Tel Aviv to attend a concert of the German band And One. To be honest, I’m not a big fan of And One a, therefore, considering the price of the concert, almost everyone was hesitating to go (including me) and some even preferred to skip the event. Therefore, no one had inflated expectations from the show. And that is why we were slightly late for the performance of the opening band (the opinions of those who still managed to attend them were different, so I will skip this information, because I did not see the performance by myself). Club Barbie is located near the place where gothic and dark scene parties used to take place recently. And also next to the club where Diary of Dreams and In Strict Confidence performances in Kultura Club. Barbie is considered one of the best clubs for the underground scene. I was there for two shows from the metal scene (Aeba and Samael), so I was curious to know how the electronic music would sound there. The club itself is convenient in terms of viewing the stage, but not convenient for dancing afterparties. The beer in the bar was of good quality and at a good price (in a good way). Therefore, the amount of beer in the body exceeded the norm (the norm is not totally drunk, but tipsy). So, we entered the club...

Track 3. The Audience

Entering the club, an eerie pandemonium at the entrance rushed into the eyes (and not only). As it turned out, it was not only at the entrance. Making our way through the crowd was a little stressful. The audience has been hungry for concerts of this scene for a long time, so it seemed, that all the underground music lovers came to see And One, starting with young fresh meat of the scene fans, who have little understanding of what And One is and what it is eaten with, and ending with oldschool fans of the post-industrial and gothic music. Metalheads and alternative listeners also were noticed. It was almost impossible to find someone in this thick of the crowd, but I still snagged some friends even before the performance. The rest after, when all this chaos began to dissipate.

Track 4. DJs

As we roamed the jungle of visitors, the DJs played gothic electro, synthpop and futurepop, synth-goth and EBM music perfectly suited to the context. They played mostly old hits. I wanted to dance, but there was simply not enough space. And then “suddenly" the light on the stage turned off...

Track 5. And One (Germany)

It didn't turn out to be a super spectacular appearing of musicians on the stage, but the cute intro also had a good effect on the crowd, and Steve's greetings in Hebrew without an accent (!!!) lifted the mood even more. At this point I already realized that none of those who came to the concert will remember the price of the ticket, no one will remember that he or she did not want to go anywhere, no one will regret the lost evening. Because what lay ahead of us was worth it. My expectations from the sound in the club were 100% justified. The sound was perfect. It is worth saying a huge thanks to the sound engineer for the work and the organizers for choosing Barbie and not the other club. Well, the And One is like And One. Famous well known project couldn’t be bad by default. They gave out all their main hits (Krieger, Technoman, Military Fashion Show, Deutschmachine, Panzermensch), diluting them with less known songs and turning the audience on with various good quality cover versions on Camouflage, Alphaville, Project Pitchfork and Depeche Mode. The audience responded with full energy. The venue was filled with pure positive energy. Especially when in the middle of a more than two-hour show Steve said that "you just heard what we call an intro, and now the real concert will begin”. The encore also turned out to be quite long for 5-6 songs, so it would be actually another concert or the second act. The result of a show in one word - super!

Track 6. Outro

Results: Perfect sound, super performance and powerful energy of And One, a sea of positive atmosphere, meeting with old friends and just having a good time, during which the beer was very easy to drink. The only negative of the whole action (how could it be without this) - at 4 am the music in the club stopped playing, which marked the end of the evening, leaving a feeling that something was missing. 4 in the morning is too early to finish in Israel parties, so we went to a nearby club for an alternative party that didn’t particularly attract me personally, where, by the way, Steve Naghavi later ran up because of the lack of an afterparty in the main club. I have mentioned more than once about this annoying trend in Israeli concert activity. And, apparently, I will write more than once about it in the future, that big shows of known bands should have afterparty at least in alternative location, but as a continuation of the main party and not completely new one with other music genres and other atmosphere as it was today. But this is another conversation of another topic and in another place. This evening will in any case be remembered not as ruined with quick ending, but much more with positive emotions. Hallelujah!
