Artificial intelligence conquers the world. Many sci-fi movies and novels have been written under this headline. It seems we've finally reached the point where it happens. The music world in 2025 was engulfed by AI-generated material, so it took much more time to find and verify real human-made projects. By the end of 2025 some music platforms realized the problem and either banned the publication of such content altogether, as Bandcamp did, or labeled such releases as Deezer. This somewhat facilitates analysis, but still devalues human work. On the one hand, it also encourages humans to be better, because machines can't create anything unique. And of the "unique" types, 2025 saw many interesting releases. The synth scene had a fantastic year with interesting new names, returning veterans and simply good solid albums from known acts. The industrial-experimental side of the dark scene was vibrant with diverse projects in completely different genres, as always. The gothic scene, both guitar-based and electronic, was also at its best with cohesive material primarily from young bands, though there were a few high-profiled comebacks. Post-industrial, however, has dwindled slightly compared to recent years, when the electro-industrial revival revitalized the scene. In any case, the year turned out to be interesting and rich in high-level and unique releases. So, let's begin a short...or rather, not so short...tour into dark music in 2025… Stay concentrated.
