Fe₂O₃=>Rust Electro: TOP2025 of Post-Industrial Scene
The post-industrial scene in 2025 was rather weak. There were plenty of releases, and big names were also putting out material. But there wasn't anything super-interesting and unique with the exception of one release that somewhat deviated from the standard sound of post-industrial genres. Dark electro and EBM were somewhat silent this year with bright albums. Whether this was the calm before the storm or a genre crisis, time will tell. For now, here are the top 10 post-industrial releases of 2025.
Covered genres: EBM, dark electro, anhalt EBM, oldschool EBM, aggro-industrial, electro-industrial, oldschool dark electro

10. PH0SF4T3 “::[Nefarious Deeds]::” (EBM, dark electro | USA, Self-Released)
The American project PH0SF4T3 is the new brainchild of Promidal founder Tracy. PH0SF4T3 began releasing their material in 2022 on various compilations. After releasing several singles the Americans released their debut album "::[Nefarious Deeds]::". The album features nine post-industrial tracks that combine melodic rhythmic EBM with danceable moderately aggressive dark electro. Distorted vocals alternate with clean male and keyboard parts throughout the tracks create a volume. This is cohesive work in genres that have long been stumped. PH0SF4T3 has shown how to do dark electro right.
09. Kontrast “Imperium - Tyrannis” (EBM, synthpop, electro | Germany, Danse Macabre)
The German project Kontrast was formed in the late 1990s by Dirk and Roberto, who had previously collaborated in Isecs. Kontrast's debut album was released in 2002, but it was their second album, "Industrie<>Romantik", that brought them breakthrough and popularity. It remains one of the most unusual albums on the synthpop scene. Kontrast have always had an unconventional approach to their sound and their work has always stood apart from other similar projects. While almost all of their previous works had leaned more toward synth-based sounds, their latest album "Imperium - Tyrannis" leans more toward EBM, despite the fact that post-industrial influences have always been present in their music. The sixth album features eight new compositions, combining EBM and synthpop with German-language lyrics and male and female vocals. But things aren't as simple as they usually are with Kontrast. The long ambient ballad in the middle of the album and the closing rock-tinged composition are stylistically out of scope, but conceptually fit in well and sound harmonious. Another interesting and, in a good sense, unconventional work from the Germans, which could easily have reached the top of the synth scene in 2025.
08. Blush Response “Ego Death” (EBM, aggro-industrial | USA, Artoffact Records)
Blush Response, founded in 2008 by American Joey, who currently lives in Germany, has released numerous albums. From the very beginning Blush Response has experimented with sound, tapping into nearly every genre imaginable from both the dark scene and electronic music. His work encompasses electronic rock, acid techno, gothic rock, noise, IDM, classic industrial, rhythmic noise and much more. His music was released by labels of such diverse genres that it's impossible to understand its affiliation just by looking at the list. Among them were the industrial noise label Total Black, the experimental Ant-Zen with aufnahme + wiedergabe and the techno/electronic Sonic Groove. In 2024 the project released its first album on the more mainstream Artoffact Records, where its newest work "Ego Death" was out. Joey once again presents a heady mix of soundscapes of EBM, electro and aggro-industrial on the new album. Another unconventional work from Blush Response, it's difficult to classify, so let's just listen and enjoy, and there's plenty to enjoy. Aggressive noisy guitar-driven compositions alternate with gloomy electro-industrial passages, rhythmic noise ballads give way to almost danceable EBM and distorted vocals are periodically broken up by softer, more lyrical ones. The album actually turns out to be quite harsh, inconsistent and difficult to understand, but that's precisely its advantage, in my opinion. A serious powerful work from an American who, after moving to Europe, hasn't lost that distinctive American sound.
07. General Dynamics “Where Animals Play” (EBM, electro-industrial | Germany/UK, X-IMG)
We are General Dynamic. Welcome to a vortex of pain. These are the words that open the second album by the German-British duo General Dynamics. The project was founded in the early 2020s by William of Qual and Emad of Sarin, and in 2022 their debut album was out on the X-IMG label. Their second full-length album will also be released there. The album features eight tracks that combine EBM and electro-industrial sounds. The structure of the songs deviates somewhat from the classics, reminding more of rhythmic noise projects, but this approach refreshes these somewhat rusty genres. The multi-layered compositions touched by an electro-industrial aesthetic, while the rhythm is rooted in EBM. A solid, cohesive material from the international duo.
06. G.H.T “Resistance” (EBM | Sweden, Self-Released)
Founded in 1987 and suddenly woke up from hibernation in 2020, the Swedish project G.H.T. continues to delight fans of post-industrial electronics with new release every year. After a strong comeback in 2020, subsequent albums have dwindled somewhat, but retained their distinctive oldschool sound. In 2025 the project released the latest album "Resistance", which once again broke into the top 10 post-industrial releases of the year. "Resistance" is the Swede's seventh full-length album. The album once again features solid EBM with touches of electro-industrial in the best oldschool traditions, but with a modern sound. A cohesive well-sounding album without any standout hits, but also without any throwaway tracks. G.H.T. is back in action.
05. Centhron “Liebe ist Krieg” (dark electro, EBM | Germany, Scanner)
The German project Centhron has been producing strong cohesive dark electro since 2001. Elmar Schmidt, the man behind the project, previously played in death metal bands and formed his first electronic project in the late 90s, even releasing one album in 2000. Centhron's debut album was released in 2002 and on their first performances Centhron shared stage with such big names in post-industrial music as Suicide Commando and Feindflug. Centhron's discography includes more than 10 full-length albums, each of which features the Germans creative powerful harsh dark electro with elements of EBM and German-language lyrics. The new work is called "Liebe ist Krieg" and is an attack on post-industrial dancefloors with solid powerful material featuring hard beats, aggressive rhythms and hitty dance tracks. A good well-crafted album from the Germans.
04. Autodafeh “Greed” (EBM | Germany, Scanner)
The EBM project Autodafeh was founded in the mid-2000s by Anders and Mika, members of the synth/futurepop project Endless Shame. Their first full-length album was released in 2008. In 2025 the Swedes released their sixth album "Greed" after a 10-year hiatus. The album features 12 tracks in a complex greedy EBM style, combining both oldschool techniques and modern sounds. Here you'll find rhythmic dancefloor tunes and gloomy atmospheric compositions more akin to electro-industrial. A remarkable return with solid material from the respected Swedes, who have played in numerous known local projects in this genre over their music careers.
03. Spammerheads “The Mire Chronicles” (EBM, techno-industrial | Spain, Banshees Records)
The Spanish duo Spammerheads formed at the turn of the 20s and at the dawn of their career created soundscapes in various genres of electronic and industrial music. These were more of a search for a sound than a fully formed concept. They included dark ambient, drone, elements of techno and industrial experiments. In 2021 their first album was released on the Spanish label Soil Records, where the musicians had already found their sound. The new work is called "The Mire Chronicles" and was out on Banshees Records. This sixth full-length album in discography is made in the EBM genre with echoes of oldschool and touches of techno-industrial aesthetics. The result is quite mechanical, rhythmic and danceable. A fine work by the duo David and Ana, worthy of both public attention and a place in the top 10 post-industrial albums of the year.
02. Tyske Ludder “Weltenbühne” (EBM | Germany, Emmo.biz Records)
The German project Tyske Ludder was formed in 1989 by Klaus and Olaf. The Germans released their debut album in 1993. Back then, the band played EBM, now considered oldschool, but back then it was its modern incarnation. After releasing their third album in 1995 the musicians gone into the shadows, returning only in 2006 to once again with modern EBM, which by then had a different sound. Tyske Ludder align with current trends and jump into the new wave of sound and created their own version. This continues in 2025. The new album, the eighth in the band's discography, is called "Weltenbühne" and features a modern EBM with mechanical industrial tones, rhythmic dance melodies, a dense rich textures and aggressive male vocals in German. Tyske Ludder are flowing with genre development adding new layers, their own signification features and techniques, writing songs whose lyrics tackled urgent social themes shaping the world at the time. A good solid album from an old project.
01. noise on grey “negative pressure” (electro-industrial, oldschool dark electro, industrial darkwave | USA, Self-Released)
noise on grey is the solo project of American musician Aerik Burton. The musician spent years playing in various local metal and prog bands, mostly as a bassist. After feeling stagnant with his main metal project Verdant Grey, the American got keyboards and began experimenting with electronic post-industrial music, which resulted in noise on grey. The electronic music is influenced by Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails and How to Destroy Angels, as well as classic synth and post-industrial music. "negative pressure" is noise on grey's debut album and features 10 atmospheric compositions that combine mid-tempo brooding electro-industrial with oldschool dark electro and the aesthetics of industrial darkwave with slightly processed male vocals. It's really interesting and strong material, somewhat reminding a more industrial version of Seabound. Very impressive music and the best post-industrial album of 2025.
Other honorable mentions: Chaos Tamed, Ensemble Élitaire, evo-lution, Infektomorph, Inline Sex Terror, Oldschool Union, Rhys Fulber, Robota Robotny, Undercut, Zynik 14
